Chris Quinn Calling Hours

For those of you who missed the update to our earlier item about the passing of Chris “The Mighty” Quinn: Calling hours for the long-time Cleveland broadcaster will be this evening from 5-7 PM, at Burr Funeral Home, at 116 South Street in Chardon.

We only touched briefly on Quinn’s life and career in our earlier item. For those looking for much more, the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Alana Baranick has a well-written obituary in Tuesday’s paper.

One thing we didn’t know – Quinn, while working in his first stint at WELW/1330 Willoughby in the late 1960’s, helped break the hit records “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by the studio band Steam, and “Snowbird” by Anne Murray.

The obituary also has nice quotes from those who worked with Chris, including WELW and Cleveland media fixture Ted Alexander, and former WMJI/WMMS program director John Gorman.

The article says Chris Quinn died Saturday as a young man at 59, from complications from congestive heart failure.

We’re very glad that OMW wasn’t the only media-related place “The Mighty Quinn” will be remembered…
